Drive Season for TEMPEST Robotics Begins!

- 2 min read
With Drive Practice having officially begun last week, the outlook for many teams on a week-by-week basis is very different than what it is for the earlier weeks of Build Season. Many of the teams are now working together, either observing the robot in action and looking for any faults or room for improvement, or are controlling the robot.
The team has begun using their drive room as well as the Jefferson High School Cafeteria to demo the robot and all of its features. The drive room is fitted with a carpet floor that is perfect for the wheels of the robot to drive on, and the cafeteria features high ceilings that give enough clearance to accurately judge the height field elements reach after being fired out of the robot's shooter.
This year, the team's Driver is Samuel Holton, the team's Operator is Landen Dorrow, and the Tech is Izzy Kreitsch. The Human Player that will be throwing balls into the hub is Abbie Valley. The pit crew that will be on standby in case anything with the robot goes haywire is made up of team members Audrey Camilleri, Diego Grammer-Gold, Izzy Kreitsch, and Maddie Arnett. These members of the pit crew will be spending this remaining week honing their skills and experience with the robot in order to ensure they can fix it as quick as possible.
While Drive Practice definitely shakes up the regular season, it would be incorrect to say there isn't an air of excitement at TEMPEST Robotics. The advent of competitions and the idea of showing off all the time and hard work that went into creating this robot makes what is coming next for this team something they are all anticipating.
As always, TEMPEST Robotics would like to end this post by extending the arm of gratitude to you, viewer, for your interest in what we do during our annual robotics season. Your support means the world.
