Team Insight- Samuel Holton (Team Captain)

These were questions asked by the marketing team to Team Captain Samuel Holton, a seasoned member of TEMPEST.

Q: What would you consider to be your most important job as the team captain?

A: I think my most important job would probably be just more delegating. I remember last year a big part of my job was just the hands on... electrical, mechanical, like... of the robot. This year, a big part of my job is just like... basically, I upgraded from worker to like, y'know supervisor. I just gotta make sure people are doing what they're supposed to be doing. I still am... y'know I'm still doing the, like, hands on stuff. I think more than anything just helping where I can.

Q: What is something you wanna see done differently this year that hasn't been done in the past years you've been apart of TEMPEST?

A: Well, I mean, states of course. I'd love to go to states. But, one thing I'd like to see done differently and one thing I've seen done differently is that everybody's helping. They've found their niche, they've really, like, started working together. Last year, it was a lot of, y'know, a few people doing this and a lot of sitting around and, y'know, not doing as much because we were a less experienced team, we didn't have as many people, we were underfunded. This year I've seen so much improvement by the team, it is amazing to see. It's really... we've done so much more than past years.

Q: At you point do you think TEMPEST will be ready for competition this year?

A: I'm hoping competition ready would be... Thursday would be great... if we could get Thursday to be our competition ready day. Now, I'm not saying it's going to happen, but with the progress I've seen us make, even just today, as compared to a lot of days, it really has been quite the improvement. We... I'd say Thursday we'd be competition ready if we really busted our butts and got in there and did as much as we can.

Q: If you were famous, what would you want to be famous for?

A: Um... I, personally, wouldn't really want to be famous 'cause I feel like that's a lot of... I don't like paparazzi. But, I don't know, like, If I were to be famous for anything I'd want to be famous for something... good... preferably. I'm not sure exactly what, but I just don't want to be like... one of the worst people y'know? The people that are famous for being rich and greedy and hoarding money. I'd want to be famous for helping and y'know doing something to actually better the world and leave it better than I found it.
